He who prays during the night in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven – Hadith, Holy Prophet (saw).
The state at which one is during I’tikaf is a state of blessing. It drives one closer to His creator.
A mutakifoon uses this period to add value to his country, state , family and friends, relatives and as well himself. He fervently prays for them and seek God’s favours and blessings abundantly on them.
Friends and families send him prayer requests and he without bias mind accept them and eventually pray to Allah on their behalf. If such is the case, we could have rewritten our histories, refined our souls, become more pious and adhered to His guidance. If this is the case, there shouldn’t be misconception among the ummah, since prayers suplicated to God will in no doubt be accepted during this time. We could have used this period right from time to pray for Allah’s guidance.
A Mutakifoon, during his stay in the mosque, weeps to God Almighty for forgiveness of sins, after personal reconcilation with whoever has offended him and seek forgiveness from those he offended. He holds no grugde and keep his heart clean towards others.
He has the opportunity to get closer to Allah by temporarily freeing himself and mind from the activities and worries of this world. This provides an excellent opportunity to train himself to disassociate temporarily from the worries of the world and to instead focus only on Allah alone.
If one should understand these guiding principles that warrant effectiveness of one’s seclussion in the mosque and that they drive one closer to God, such one shouldn’t exercise them only for the purpose of I’tikaf. He should continue using them to guide his ways and he will become no ordinary human in the sight of Allah. He will be raised in status; morally, spiritually and physically.
May Allah accept our prayers and raise us in standards-aamin.
